The latest technological advances in smartphones: what lies ahead?

If there’s one sector where the race for innovation is fierce, it’s the telephone industry. Every year, manufacturers vie with each other in their ingenuity to bring out the latest in smartphones. Futuristic shells, fast-charging technologies, 8K60p HDR video sensors or even AI-powered 5G models, nothing escapes them.

Smartphone news: the shell of the future

What’s new in the world of phones rarely involves an accessory like the protective case. That’s not to say there aren’t any.

The military shockproof shell

With smartphones becoming more and more expensive, but ever more fragile, a very solid shell is not an option. Some brands have designed military-quality shockproof shells, most often in hard polycarbonate. When it comes to new smartphones, these accessories impress with their above-average shock resistance.

Anti-aggression shell

Imagine having a case that can find your phone if it’s stolen. That’s what anti-theft shells are capable of. They are designed with features such as camera activation, photo-taking, geolocation or 130 decibel alarm. In some cases, the shell is able to call contacts and send them geolocation information. In general, all functions can be remotely activated to find the phone.

Protective case against electromagnetic waves

The other new feature on smartphones is the electromagnetic wave protection case. In addition to protecting the phone, it protects the user by reducing the effect of wave emissions by 80%, without affecting call quality. Its effectiveness is based on an integrated shielding fabric.

Smartphone news: focus on superchargers

Making smartphones more and more powerful while maintaining good battery life is the challenge facing the vast majority of manufacturers. Some, like Realme and Redmi, seem to have found the solution.

Realme is reaching new heights in smartphone innovation with ultra-fast charging technology. With 240 W of power, the GT3 model’s battery reaches 100% in just 9 minutes and 30 seconds. The brand guarantees that this innovation is free from overheating and battery damage.

In the same niche, Redmi has raised the stakes with its 300W charging technology. While not yet perfected, it has the potential to beat Realme to the punch with an even shorter charging time.

8K60p HDR video

Sony and Samsung are also introducing more advanced video resolutions for their sensors. Their smartphones could soon go up to 8K60p HDR, thanks to more powerful processors and sensors. They will then be able to manage up to 240 33-megapixel images per second. With a more dynamic range, these phones will become veritable cinema cameras.

Combining 5G and AI

Renowned for its performance, 5G is about to revolutionize itself, particularly in terms of its impact on device autonomy. As new features on smartphones, we can expect the combination of 5G and AI. Models will soon be able to incorporate neural processors and artificial intelligence. Their role will be to make devices more energy-efficient, without altering connection quality.

In the coming years, we expect to see a number of new developments in smartphones. Above and beyond the race for innovation that this entails, they enable users to have ever more powerful and ergonomic devices.
