those eternal fine days, and then the stars, the sports, life like a novel or a movie… There’s something free, passionate and wildly creative about the West Coast atmosphere.
It has inspired the atmosphere of these fragrances, which have the spontaneity of Colognes and the sophistication of perfumes.
Louis Vuitton, in its tireless quest for innovation, has created Parfums de Cologne, a new term to illustrate the special alliance between the lightness of a fruity mist and the depth of flowers. The challenge was taken up by Master Perfumer Jacques Cavallier Belletrud,
author of the House’s olfactory works. “I dreamed of creating a fresh fragrance. To find the sensitive boundary between a pleasant but fleeting summer eau and the permanence of a fragrance that lingers on the skin. Sun Song, Cactus Garden and Afternoon Swim have the color of summer,
but with them, summer endures. They continue it because I created them with the same respect as a great perfume, using rare, natural materials with exceptional qualities. These are fragrances of light, when the notes explode and reveal all their naturalness.”
Sun Song, Cactus Garden and Afternoon Swim go straight to the point.
Their architecture highlights the truth of a flower, a plant or a fruit. Sun Song magnifies the charming orange blossom, for a fragrance like the caress of a sunbeam.
Cactus Garden invites maté, that remote and singular tea, for a fragrance like a stroll through an exotic patio.
Afternoon Swim ennobles the faithful, ever-optimistic orange, for a fragrance like a dip in an ocean of pleasure.
Louis Vuitton has asked artist Alex Israel to dress the new fragrances and enhance their character by creating their cases, like the white canvases that a painter puts into color. Alex Israel is a multimedia artist and scriptwriter, rooted in the modernity of the world around him, who uses every medium to express his art.
He is strongly inspired by Los Angeles, where he was born and lives, a city of contrasts, the aptly named City of Angels, where the sky he loves to paint is truly unique. For each fragrance, he has imagined a case associating the spirit of each fragrance with his universe through his emblematic works.
Sun Song is dressed up with “Summer”, an oversized lens from a pair of sunglasses, like a shot of light. Cactus Garden strolls with “Desperado”, an installation that pays homage to California’s fascinating landscapes. Afternoon Swim surfs on “New Waves”, a painting in which
a large wave sweeps towards the immensity of the Pacific.
