MONCLER GAMME BLEU is the result of the synergy between Moncler’s expertise in active sportswear and outerwear, and designer Thom Browne’s “handmade” approach. The concept of the Spring/Summer 2018 collection is based on the idea that we can easily move from one season to the next. This easy transition from one season to the next is represented by down outfits with oversized plastic zippers, to be worn over total looks without down. The collection is made up of three groups: the gray/gray and white group, the red, blue and white group, and the more formal, black-tie group. The Quintessence of Thom Browne, the sport coats, Chesterfield coat, peacoat, trench coat, cardigan, polo shirts, pants and shorts, are made in traditional wool fabrics such as cashmere, mohair, Cavalry twill, cotton gabardine, cotton poplin as well as Mackintosh and seersucker fabrics. Pieces are also offered in more technical versions of wool, cashmere, ripstop nylon, mesh and waterproof slicker. All fabrics in the collection feature technical details such as embroidery, intarsia fur, water-repellent finishes, as well as checks created from embroidery or stitching. Madras checks, gingham checks and seersucker stripes characterize the blue & white and red groups, while the gray and black tie groups are presented in solid hues. Accessories include moon boots for winter and flip-flops for summer, as well as sea bags in the same fabrics as the rest of the collection, and quilted down beach towels in terrycloth matching the collection’s motif.
