A missed appointment, misunderstanding, question, desire…What is Boyd Holbrook waiting for in the new Dior Homme campaign?
“Elle” or simply a circumstance, an excuse to don a trench coat and take a stroll in the park. An excuse to pick flowers, a hallmark of the House of Dior, and towards which Christian Dior had a special tenderness. Tied in a buttonhole, or hung in an empty room, as if to build a hotel for the beloved, they are part of the house’s DNA. It’s also a gesture, a part of a romantic enchantment.
In this campaign, waiting is seen as a pleasure, a selfish pastime during which we bask in three-piece suits. Dior reinvents the way to languish in the most chic parts of Paris, illuminated by terraces or night lights.
This project once again brings together the Belgian duo Kris Van Assche and Willy Vanderperre, who wanted to explore “subversive elegance” for the Winter 2015 collection. It’s a concept, a thoughtful program that’s been mulling over, as if in the making of a real feature film. An American in Paris; a dark blonde in love in the city of lights; a modern romantic in a city of timeless charm.
Could this be Dior’s subversive elegance? Pieces that we think are classics, that we think we’ve already understood, but which for this winter 2016 collection are revealed in a new light.
A highly cinematic campaign, revealing Kris Van Assche’s modern take on the classics. An “American in Paris” who dances solo through the streets of Paris…
