“René did it first”: the phrase on the sweatshirts perfectly sums up this latest Lacoste collection, which took to the catwalk in New York. Felipe Oliveira Baptista pays homage to the brand’s founder, René Lacoste, who knew perfectly how to integrate urban wear with sportswear and vice versa. The tracksuit can be worn in the city with a sleeveless coat, a reversible raincoat or a nylon trench coat. Headbands can be found in stripes on wool dresses, while pleated skirts – reminiscent of outfits worn on the tennis court – coordinate with polo shirts or sweatshirts in pop colors. The seventies spirit, with a nod to Wes Anderson’s film “The Tennenbaum Family”, fits perfectly with the good vibes the designer has distilled through this wardrobe. Of particular note: the red jogging suit with headband worn by a Ben Stiller lookalike during the show.
