January 20, 2014 at DS WORLD PARIS saw the opening of “STRONGER”, the stunning new exhibition by Charlie Le Mindu, the celebrated hair artist and hairstylist to many stars.
A raw talent that represents French creation all over the world, and is the envy of the rest of the world.
In the presence of personalities and friends of the designer such as choreographer Blanca Li, and Basque chef Inaki Aizpitarte, Charlie Le Mindu first presented his new collection in a memorable fashion show – for the first time, his collection was admired in the dark, with phosphorescent creations – and unveiled pieces from his “STRONGER” exhibition, including his original creation designed specifically for the DS WORLD PARIS showcase: “Déesse for DS WORLD PARIS”.
The general public can come and discover it until March 20 at 33° rue François 1er in Paris, so don’t miss this exhibition.
Charlie Le Mindu has chosen to unveil “his goddesses” in the windows and on the floors of DS WORLD PARIS, a daring and singular universe entirely dedicated to CITROËN’s DS line. Alongside the CITROËN DS3, DS3 CABRIO, DS4 and DS5, the famous hairstylist presents the faces of sumptuous Amazons with sculptural hairstyles, and exhibits some of his finest pieces – such as his famous “SpongeBob” worn by the no less famous Lady Gaga.
“DS WORLD PARIS is an ideal, atypical location, a showcase for my Goddesses. The embodiment of women of power and seduction,” comments Charlie Le Mindu. XXL Afro cuts, traditional tribal masks, oversized hair sculptures… all creations inspired by traditional masks and statues from sub-Saharan Africa and the famous Queen of Sheba, who for him represents the quintessential woman of power. “I chose this warm, golden hue to highlight a new technique involving dipping each natural hair in gold paint to give it a metallic finish,” explains Charlie Le Mindu.
In the window, he gives his vision of the DS universe through an extravagant mask. “This unique creation is my ‘DS Goddess’. For me, the DS woman is elegant, strong and original, and this sculpture is my vision of her. Charlie Le Mindu inaugurates our 2014 program and sets the tone for the rest of the events, which will always be bold, creative and refined.”

After learning his trade in his grandmother’s salon and traveling with his scissors between Berlin, London and Paris, Charlie Le Mindu is now the hairstylist of choice for stars such as Peaches, Rossi De Palma, Mylène Farmer and, of course, Lady Gaga, whose most extravagant appearances he signs.
Keen to bring the worlds of fashion and beauty closer together, Charlie Le Mindu has been developing Haute Coiffure collections for several years now. His most recent collaborations include the cover of Brigitte Fontaine’s “Crazy Horse” single and the Galeries Lafayette window displays in June 2013. He has also designed hairstyles for Cirque du Soleil in Las Vegas.
