A few days ago we were able to attend the opening of the new Gerard Darel boutique at 130 rue réaumur, a brand new concept store where Gerard Darel and Pablo will be sold together in 2 very own universes with decoration created by the house.
To liven up the evening, the Brigitte group performed a song.
Imagined as a warm, refined Parisian apartment, 130 Réaumur takes on some of the codes of this style: perspectives and vanishing lines typical of the Haussmann style, Eiffel parquet flooring, designer furniture… A cosy living space in tune with the times, very Left Bank even if it is Right Bank.
The atmosphere, underpinned by a palette of colorful, feminine and elegant grays, is warmed by the bronze-toned lighting fixtures – by Tom Dixon. Everywhere, a sense of detail emerges: wood and lacquer display pedestals, marquetry nesting tables, lacquered metal valet racks, leather canvas frames, a nod to the house’s leatherworking expertise.
Contemporary artists’ pieces also punctuate the space, giving it authentic cachet. For example, Laurent Chéhère’s “Cirque” (Galerie Paris-Beijing), from the Flying Houses series, casts its dreamlike spell over the boutique. A poetic punctuation that offers customers a truly singular shopping experience.
130 Réaumur comprises three subtly arranged spaces: one dedicated to
prêt-à-porter Gerard Darel, another to Pablo, and finally a space reserved for leather goods.
Gerard Darel has also just appointed a new Artistic Director, Brigitte Comazzi Duval, after the arrival of Sandrine Lilienfield, the new President, which gives a new dimension and a breath of fresh air to the Gerard Darel brand. The house is in the midst of a revival, and the Darel woman remains authentic, chic, elegant and timeless, but is being renewed and strengthened…
