Hippolyte Romain will be at the Compagnie Française de l’Orient et de la Chine (CFOC) until February1. With his exhibition “Contes Chinois sous la Lune”, on the theme of TAO, he takes us on a voyage of discovery through Asia.

Hippolyte Romain is a true jack-of-all-trades. Illustrator, poet, writer and painter, he has more than one string to his bow. His career began in the world of fashion and couture. For several years, he worked for Vanity Fair magazine, where he designed fashion shows and met the greatest couturiers. Today, he is Artistic Director of the Jardin d’Acclimatation in Paris. But that hasn’t stopped him from putting his writing career on hold. He has written nearly 60 books. Sharing his life between France and China, Asian traditions have become a great source of inspiration for him.

This exhibition is located in Paris on the Boulevard Haussmann. CFOC is a unique concept store in Paris dedicated to the art of living. The aim: to build a bridge between East and West. A way of getting to know the traditional know-how and cultures of the different civilizations that surround us. Their boutique hosts a number of exhibitions.

Here, Hippolyte Romain takes us on a journey to Asia, titillating our imaginations. His world is presented through drawings, paintings and watercolors. The childlike quality of his creations is striking. An aspect that has always characterized him. On the first floor, you’ll find unpublished paintings and texts on the necessity of beauty. The basement houses Hippolyte’s theater. Through texts, stories and paintings, he explores the theme of bestiary, a symbol of Taoist philosophy. Unicorns, phoenixes, dragons and dragonflies are presented in a collection of never-before-seen objects.

A free exhibition you won’t want to miss!
