From October 26, 2013, the town of L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue presents a double exhibition by photographer Robert Doisneau, “Du métier à l’œuvre / Palm Springs, 1960”.
Alongside legendary black-and-white photographs taken in the streets of Paris and its suburbs, the exhibition also features lesser-known color shots taken in California.
The series entitled “Du métier à l’œuvre” features some one hundred original black-and-white works produced between 1930 and 1966.

Sent by Fortune magazine to Palm Springs to report on social life and the emergence of golf courses in the heart of the Colorado desert, Robert Doisneau used color photography for the first time, drawing an amused portrait of an overpriced world, a showcase for the American way of luxury life in the 1960s.

CAMPREDON Centre d’art suggests a completely different vision of the works of the French humanist photographer who “all his life had fun, made his own little theater”, intimately blending poetry and realism.
The exhibition is complemented by period documents, vintage prints and a modern print of “Baiser de l’hôtel de Ville”, which has become the iconic image of this internationally-renowned French photographer.
