A structured sole. A TENCEL knit upper that wraps the foot like a second skin. Anna, born of the meeting between Camper and ISSEY MIYAKE, questions what it means to wear a shoe.
There is an obsession within ISSEY MIYAKE’s philosophy that runs through all its collections: the space between clothing and the body. Not what is concealed, not what is shown, but what happens in that gap—that tension, that relationship. Satoshi Kondo, artistic director of the house’s womenswear collections, has transposed this philosophy into footwear by partnering with Camper.
Anna, the new creation born of this collaboration, is not exactly a shoe. It is a shoe that thinks it is a sock—or the other way round. Its pared-back base, with a pointed toe and a small heel, is structured and resolutely urban. But its upper is made from TENCEL knit, a natural fibre derived from wood from sustainable sources, soft and breathable, which envelops the foot and lower leg with an almost imperceptible lightness.
The contrast is calculated and deliberate. On one side, the solidity of the sole—its permanence. On the other, the fluidity of the upper—its adaptation to the body, its warmth, its contours. Anna does not seek to make us forget the foot; it seeks to reveal it, to enhance the beauty of the human silhouette through this everyday gesture.
First unveiled on the runway of the ISSEY MIYAKE Autumn/Winter 2026/27 show during Paris Fashion Week last March, Anna will be available in two silhouettes: a low shoe in black and beige, and a boot in black, blue and dark navy.
This project says something broader about the state of fashion today. Luxury no longer plays out solely in the palaces of handbags or watches. It finds its way into unexpected collaborations, discreet technical gestures and materials nobody had heard of until they became self-evident.
Camper, founded in Mallorca in 1975, has always sought in design a form of resistance to the ephemeral. ISSEY MIYAKE, founded in 1971 around the concept of a piece of cloth, has always sought in fabric a way to dissolve boundaries. Anna may be their most obvious meeting—and their most fitting.
