What if makeup were not about becoming someone else, but revealing what was already there? That is the premise of AWAKENED, La Biosthétique’s new Autumn/Winter 2026/2027 makeup collection, which challenges the usual language of transformation.
Beauty marketing has long been fuelled by one word: transformation. Changing faces, erasing, correcting, metamorphosing. AWAKENED, La Biosthétique’s new Autumn/Winter 2026/2027 makeup collection, chooses a different vocabulary: awakening, self-rediscovery and the expression of individuality. Makeup is no longer presented as a tool for transformation, but as the reflection of an inner movement: it seeks to reveal what was already present rather than transform it.
This reversal takes tangible form in the combination of soft, sensory textures and a palette of deep, warm, luminous colours. The shades invite freedom, from a subtle touch to the boldest intensity, creating individual looks that evolve with changing desires rather than following a fixed script of transformation. The collection introduces new textures and shades designed to add another dimension to the makeup ritual rather than impose further rules.
New additions include Silky Eyeshadow Coca Mocha, with a silky mousse texture that turns into powder for a luminous, buildable finish (€22.50), and Matte Lip & Cheek Tint, with a velvety powder-cream texture that gently colours lips and cheeks for a natural or more assertive result (€31). The collection also adds new shades: Eyeshadow Pen Parchment/Moonlight, to intensify the eyes from the subtlest line to the strongest accent (€24); Automatic Pencil for Eyes Viola/Absinthe (€25.50); Automatic Pencil for Lips Redwood, to redefine the lip contour (€25.50); the matte, velvety Sensual Lipstick Mauve Orchid (€27); Perfect Volume Mascara Purple Storm in a deep, shimmering purple (€28); and Brilliant Nail Amberglow nail polish (€18.50).
This rejection of the language of transformation is significant in today’s beauty landscape, where the dominant discourse shifts between demands for perfection and a return to the natural. By choosing revelation over metamorphosis, La Biosthétique positions itself in territory that is more psychological than purely cosmetic: makeup that would accompany an inner movement already under way, rather than precede or replace it.
Whether this positioning, appealing on paper, holds up in the finished products remains to be seen. The announced textures — mousse turning into powder, powder-cream becoming a tint — nevertheless play on the same idea of gentle, gradual metamorphosis, as though the material itself had to embody the collection’s message: a new season, new colours, a new way of revealing oneself rather than dressing up as someone else.
