One of the world’s biggest photo and video sharing apps, Instagram, is today launching new search features. From now on, the service’s explore page will include Place Search and a Top Search feature.

Instagram’s search engine, which already offered two search tabs, People and Photos, is now expanded to four.

These new features should make it easier to discover or find artists and musical events taking place around the world, as well as music news. It will also make it easier to promote establishments and localities on social networks.

Thanks to Venue Search (e.g. Stade de France, Olympia, Rock en Seine, Glastonbury…), you’ll be able to search for any venue around the world and see what’s happening there in real time. This new feature should be useful for finding out what’s being said and posted about a festival, a concert, the launch of a new album…

The Top Search tab, meanwhile, brings together searches for people, places and tags in a single bar, offering a complete overview of what the user in question is looking for.

The new Instagram 7.0 version is available today on the Apple App Store and Google Play for Android.
