If you’re in London this Summer, here’s a chance to spice up tea time in style.
Conceived as a fashion collection, the “Prêt-à-Portea” cakes, Spring-Summer 2014 edition have been imagined according to the emblematic models of mythical designers and parade at the Berkeley, a prestigious London hotel.
This spring, “Prêt-a-Portea” is offering delicious pastries like the Miu-Miu bag, a fluffy one with a wild chocolate and pecan print, or the famous Pigalle Spikes in chocolate cookie, with turquoise icing and red sole: Christian Louboutin of course! Dsquared inspired the Pastry Chef to create a mango bavarois and blueberry compote topped with an electric-pink hat. Inspired by Victoria Beckham’s geometric prints, the white chocolate and cherry mousse is a flashback to geometry class. On the platter, Alberta Ferreti’s panna cotta jiggles with Sicilian guava and lemon, decorated with a fishnet tile inspired by ballet tutus for “positive energy” and “joie de vivre”.
For her “Pret-à-Portea” debut, Simone Rocha blows the fashion world into a frenzy with her coconut and pineapple savarin, topped with punkish lemon cotton candy. Emilia Wickstead transforms the traditional joconde cookie with panache, adding acidic fuchsia and orange colors to her tropical custard topped with a fruity cone. Oscar de la Renta, who drives every fashionista on the planet crazy, has inspired a pistachio sponge cake with poppy seed parfait and flower to add a little glamour to the approaching summer. The swimsuit of the season is Karla Colletto’s lemon cookie and cherry icing.
Inspired by the London Fashion Week shows, the Berkeley ‘s pastry chefs create gourmet treats in the colors and textures of the collections.
