Métiers d’art in the spotlight: after Dallas and Edinburgh, Karl Lagerfeld chose Austria to unveil Chanel’s 13th Métiers d’art collection. With interview by Karl LagerfeldAfter Dallas and Edinburgh, Karl Lagerfeld chose Austria to unveil Chanel’s 13th Métiers d’art collection. A presentation designed to showcase the expertise of the exceptional houses and workshops acquired by Chanel, from embroiderers to plumbers, hatters, folders and bootmakers. Between haute-couture and ready-to-wear, this collection, presented every December, always makes reference to a city correlated with the history of the House of Chanel. This season’s show took place at Leopoldskron Castle, an 18th-century rococo palace. Karl Lagerfeld revisited dirndl, Lederhose and other elements of traditional Austrian and Tyrolean dressing. Loden, tweed, felt, leather and cashmere mingle with satin, faille, taffeta and lace, adorned with delicate details, leather braids, passementerie, feathers and embroidery in bucolic, alpine motifs. Evening gowns feature embroidered bibs, ruffles, pleats and voluminous sleeves. Cara Delevingne, face of the Paris-Salzburg 2014/15 collection, closed the show in a white gown composed of tiered ruffles, on the arm of the couturier. With the interveiw of Karl Lagerfeld
