All the young girls in bloom had been waiting for it for years. A whole generation of nymphets who swear by Chloë Sevigny, read novels in the hot summer grass and religiously watch Virgin Suicide. Scented with wild flowers, they now have their flagrance: a “Miu Miu” eau de parfum, the first images of which have just been unveiled.
Miu miu, more than an onomatopoeia that sounds like a tender, juvenile nursery rhyme, refers to the second clothing line created by Miuccia Prada in 1993. Aimed at a younger clientele than Prada’s, the line quickly made a name for itself, thanks in particular to its glittery accessories in acidulous colors or sugared almonds: pairs of glasses, clutches and pumps like a bite out of macaroons. Guilty pleasures?
Since its creation, the brand has shown a flair for choosing its muses. A sharp eye on youth, choosing only the best: young actresses who don’t get mixed up in banal high school “girl” roles or get lost in overly blue flower comedies. Rare gems: from Kirsten Dunst and Chloë Sevigny to Dakota Fanning and Adèle Exarchopoulos and Léa Seydoux. Actresses whose films are the talk of the town…
For this first fragrance, actress Stacy Martin, who made her debut 3 years ago in Lars Von Trier’s Nymphomaniac, becomes ambassador. With her porcelain complexion and doll’s eyes, the actress from Von Trier’s controversial film embodies the brokenness of this generation of young girls. Baby doll physiques that, rather than taking the easy way out, like to lose themselves in underground places, where their falsely wise allure questions all eyes.
The latest campaign for the brand’s winter 2016 collection is a perfect illustration…
What does Miu Miu smell like – after all, we’re talking about perfume here – lily-of-the-valley bells, which, combined with woody rose and jasmine notes, are nothing like an old-fashioned eau de cologne. Like the brand’s clothing and campaigns, lily of the valley conceals unexpected scents.
