Last week in Paris, David Lisnard, Mayor of Cannes, and Philippe Augier, Mayor of Deauville, presented their new brand: Cannes & Deauville together.

The tourism promotion models that have been applied for decades are exploding, as supply outstrips demand and local authorities’ budgets shrink. Local authorities are having to think differently, and Cannes and Deauville are no exception. Les Planches and la Croisette have decided to react together. Today, they have joined forces to create a shared brand: Cannes & Deauville. The collaboration will seek to network all synergies – public and private – to promote not just tourism offers, but rather their true territorial brands, strong and predominant in their markets.

This synergy is self-evident, since the two cities share a similar history that has traditionally attracted the same tourist population: that of prestigious cosmopolitanism and artistic avant-gardism.

Separately, Cannes and Deauville have long since established their identities, invested in creating high-quality tourism, worked on a highly differentiated positioning, acquired a reputation, a strong image, propelled to the top ranks of French destinations. So it’s only logical that today, they are keen to preserve their status as a benchmark destination, whether for the natural beauty of their beaches, legendary film festivals, barrier casinos, golf, racing, polo or sales. The synergy between Cannes and Deauville should help solidify this precious status in the face of the vagaries of globalization.

This collaboration will involve Cannes Deauville’s digital communications, based on the construction of a strong international web strategy, from the creation of a portal to the reinforcement and animation of the site and social networks.

It will target residents of Deauville & Cannes’ friend cities: Madrid, Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, Beverly Hills, Shizuoka, Acapulco and Sanya, Tel Aviv, Turin, Gstaad Saanen, Quebec City, Papeete, Budapest (11th district), Florence, Moscow (central district), Cowes, Eicklingen, Kildare.

Another measure will involve a permanent laboratory run by various tourism players to gather feedback, including various surveys, market research, barometers, personalized marketing, and more…

Priority will also be given to the two cities’ direct airline markets in Europe. The distant markets of China, Brazil, Korea and the Middle East will also continue to be explored by both cities.
