London is abuzz with excitement as the Royal Family prepares to welcome a new member in the very near future. To celebrate this event in style, the whole city is gearing up: hotels, restaurants and attractions are preparing special offers and packages for Londoners and tourists alike. London & Partners, London’s promotional arm, has selected the city’s best deals.
Royal occasions like these, and especially the many celebrations that go with them, help boost tourism in the capital.
Gordon Innes, CEO of London & Partners said: “The birth of baby George in 2013 attracted over 17 million visitors. They hope to welcome 2.7 million more in the coming year.
In keeping with tradition, the future Prince or Princess will be born at St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington. Paddington Now will do everything in its power to maintain a sense of community, and ensure maximum comfort for all those camping out in front of the hospital. They’ll be handing out bottles of water, umbrellas and even party hats.
When the birth is announced, the whole neighborhood will be invited to wave blue or pink banners, depending on the baby’s sex. All those with the same first name as the newborn will be offered numerous gifts at local bars and restaurants.
In London, the Park Lane Hotel is even organizing a royal “Baby Shower”. Available until the end of May, visitors can even sample a few dishes and desserts in the hotel lobby.
As for the London Hilton, it will be celebrating the birth with a tasting of champagnes, sandwiches, pastries and a selection of teas from Harney & Sons at its CC Bar.
A little further south, on the River Thames, history buffs can enjoy a special cruise with City Cruises. Passengers can travel through 150 years of royal baby history with a photo exhibition and readings by royal experts Ian Pelham Turner and Helena Chard.
Last but not least, the Royal Garden Hotel will be holding a competition for all you betting enthusiasts. If you guess the baby’s future name, you could win two nights’ accommodation at the Garden Room near Kensington Palace, the home of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, as well as two tickets to visit the Palace.
So many festivities that it would be a shame to miss.
