Tomorrow, Wednesday January 22, 2014, Paco Rabanne takes up residence at Hôtel Drouot. A major auction will be held in room 6 from 2pm. The sale brings together the couturier’s creations, runway gowns and stage costumes. Haute Couture garments, but above all works of art.
The auction is being organized by Artcurial Briest-Poulain-F. Tajan. The 200 lots on offer include clothes, shoes, jewelry and hats made by Paco Rabanne between the 1970s and 90s. A fine retrospective of his style and creations.
All pieces were assembled by Jorge Zulueta and Jacobo Romano between 1979 and 2009. They founded Grupo Accion Instrumental in Buenos Aires in 1968. This opera house stages shows combining music, acting, singing and visual art. Costumes by Paco Rabanne were used to dress the shows. An unusual style that contributes to the renewal of the traditional language of opera and the expression of dramatic art. Genuine sculptural gowns at the service of the heroes and heroines.
Paco Rabanne’s whimsical, non-conformist creations take center stage at this auction. Open to the curious and Haute Couture enthusiasts alike. A first sale was held in 2012. A swan feather dress fetched 10,000 euros. A record to be beaten for this second edition.
