Milan, London and then Paris presented their men’s collections for winter 2015/16, and men are full of surprises…Milan, London and then Paris presented their men’s collections for winter 2015/16. The menswear sector continues to intensify, with numerous labels and a wide variety of proposals. Brands that rely on their DNA, while seeking to modernize their statements. The British capital opened the festivities, with an energy that is one of its strengths, and with the emergence of a “seventies” trend that could be seen everywhere between Paris and Milan: high-waisted pants, slightly flared legs and numerous prints were given a new lease of life. In Milan, the major Italian fashion houses relied on their know-how to modernize the classic pieces of the men’s wardrobe, using luxurious materials that are as beautiful on the outside as they are on the inside. Beautiful materials also seen on the Paris catwalks: Hermès, Berluti, advocate high-end, ultra-comfortable menswear. Casual is chic and elegant, with the return of luxury jogging suits and pants in boots. In terms of materials, velvet is making a comeback, shorn and in autumnal tones. In winter, men warm up with fur, with a real revival for shearling, in small touches or all-over. But men don’t forget the suit. Dior made it the main thread of its collection, while Givenchy embroidered it with ethnic motifs, for a powerful collection in terms of both style and image. Men’s fashion is increasingly staged. Classical with Dior’s violinists, more underground with Phillip Plein, poetic with Moncler, or even theatrical with Thom Browne. In Paris, Rick Owens created a buzz, daring to reveal what we usually try to hide, especially on the catwalk… and yet this season, designers are having fun confusing genders… with unisex fashion. Men and women dress in unison. Seen at Westwood, Saint Laurent and Gucci. Men are full of surprises…
