Cow Parade, the famous exhibition of life-size artist cows, is back in France. Some 40 cows will graze at the Jardin de l’Acclimatation, 35 in Deauville and 45 in Cannes.

These brave cows have already visited over 80 cities worldwide, including New York, Rio de Janeiro, Tokyo, London and Shanghai.

This cheerful, colorful herd is one of the world’s biggest urban art events. They returned to France on June 20 with a new concept: transhumance. For five and a half months, the Cow Parade Transhumance will drive an artistic herd of some twenty cows between Paris, Deauville and Cannes. This grouping of artists’ cows, initiated in Zurich by sculptor Pascal Knapp, has always been a huge success everywhere. France is certainly no exception.

Since 1998, in every country and every town, artists from all walks of life (painters, sculptors, stylists, graphic designers, advertisers), both well-known and lesser-known, have been decorating cows, turning them into works of art! Each cow is sponsored by a company, institution, association or organization that chooses an artist’s project. No two cows are alike!

In all, 7,500 life-size cow sculptures surprised and amazed the general public, while raising funds for charities including this year’s Restos du Coeur. At the end of the Cow Parade Transhumance, Deauville, Cannes and Paris will organize a major charity auction of the cows to coincide with the opening of the 2015-2016 Restaurants du Cœur campaign, on the occasion of their 30th anniversary. The 3 sales will take place under the gavel of the charismatic and media-savvy Pierre Cornette de Saint Cyr. Half of the proceeds from these 3 auctions will be donated to the Restaurants du Coeur, as will the entire proceeds from THE cow “Cowluche” created and realized by Mathilde de l’Ecotais.

This extraordinary event brings together the worlds of business, charity and the arts. As for the cow, it’s the perfect support, since it’s an animal loved by all, benevolent and nurturing. They have a universal appeal.

A digital version of the Cow Parade Transhumance route will be available on the Cow Parade Transhumance website and on the Cities website, showing the location of each cow, the name of each artist and the list of sponsors and partners.
