GAMUT AW20-21 COLLECTION

Cutting, splitting, dissecting, extracting, recomposing, reconstructing: for its third collection, GAMUT focuses on up- cycling. An integral part of its creative method since the collective was born in 2018, this eco-responsible approach becomes a pretext for experimentation. GAMUT pursues its discourse on tailoring by breaking down second-hand suits to sew new pieces, sometimes following an industrial method, reproducible on a large scale, sometimes a much more artisanal release that gives birth to unique pieces.

Defending a reasoned vision of its ecosystem, GAMUT pro- poses in addition to its upcycled line a wardrobe of essentials, realistic and accessible, composed of mixed pieces, made in France and cut in materials selected for their low ecological footprint. GAMUT builds a winter wardrobe, tinged with “biker” cuts that infuse the collection with subtlety. Duffle coats, knit sweaters and dresses, overshirts, shirts, pants and skirts sketch out a line of GAMUT iconics, while the season’s headgear, a balaclava-cap, aims to conceal the face in the age of facial recognition, while keeping it warm.

Saturday January 18 at La Station – Gare des Mines – ahead of a clubbing party organized by Chosen Family, the events, festive and musical arm of the collective – GAMUT organizes a presentation of its Autumn-Winter 2020.21 collection. Breaking with the tradition of the runway show, GAMUT gave three performers carte blanche to reinterpret the spirit of the collection.

Hélène Mourrier, visual artist, feminist activist and perfor- meuse, transposes two performances to La Station, the crossroads of emerging and alternative cultures where GAMUT presented its first collection, in September 2018. Schlampa Kir von Fickdich and Tuna Mess, two drag sisters who thrive in GAMUT’s direct environment, create a special performance for the presentation. Avant-garde fashion creatures, they manipulate, appropriate, abuse and recycle prototypes from past GAMUT collections in their own way.

The three performances, which take over La Station’s indoor and outdoor spaces, are broadcast live on a giant screen set up on the outdoor stage, alongside the collection itself. Guests can see the collection up close, touch and try on the garments.
