In collaboration with the Technical University of Aachen, the German manufacturer has designed an innovative solution to help shape the transport of the future. A sleek, futuristic, city car that moves with the pedals.
At a time when cities are overloaded with cars, when people no longer know where to park, and when pollution is becoming a global problem, it’s becoming urgent to rethink our modes of transport, to imagine the way we’ll get around tomorrow. With the explosion of cycling and other modes of urban transport, this concept, located between the car and the electric bike, should appeal to many and meet these expectations.
Canyon is based on the user’s experience of taking his bike to work or for short trips around town. But when it rains, many people abandon their bikes for public transport or the car. To overcome this problem, the German manufacturer has come up with this all-weather electric bike with its panoramic capsule. This allows the rider to appreciate the beauty of the surrounding countryside, and pedal with the help of the motor to get around on a daily basis. If the mood strikes him and the weather permits, he can open the capsule and rediscover the sensations of the VAE from the comfort of his vehicle.
The Future Mobility Concept places the user in a supine position, with feet on the pedals. It is maneuvered by two lateral sticks at hip level, with a turning radius of 7 meters. The prototype is 2.30 m long and 83 cm wide. It can accommodate an adult driver and a child under 1m40. With a 2000 Wh battery, it has a range of 150 km.
This vehicle offers economic and ecological advantages. Very practical for parking, it is ideal for replacing car journeys over average distances of 10 to 30km, and can be used on both roads and cycle paths.
