The world-famous Bocuse d’Or cooking competition will be held at the Milan World Expo. Every two years since 1987, the world’s best chefs have faced off in a friendly culinary competition, with more than 50 countries taking part and 24 finalists. At each edition, three of them climb to the top of the podium. In 2000, the Bocuse d’Or Winners association was created to bring them together.
To date, it comprises 41 chefs of 12 nationalities. Their mission: to demonstrate, through their menus, that French haute cuisine can meet the expectations of a wide audience. They will take it in turns to sublimate regional products, offering dishes at affordable prices, while maintaining an excellent level of creativity and taste.
Between them, they make up a team with no fewer than 16 Michelin stars and 5 Meilleurs Ouvriers de France. But above and beyond the legitimate pride of this team, it is above all their state of mind that should be the focus of attention at the Milan World Expo. Since summer 2013, the Bocuse d’Or Winners association has been supporting food-related solidarity microcredit projects around the world through its commitment to the Babyloan organization.
To date, they have already financed some twenty microentrepreneurs: farmers, fishermen, restaurateurs… Through their presence at the Café des Chefs, they also strongly support the commitment of Gl-events, and therefore of the Pavillon France, to donate 1% of sales to finance ever more projects.
The Café des Chefs at the Pavillon de la France is an intelligent synergy between fine French cuisine, openness to the world and social concern.
