Aldo Maria Camillo, the designer at the helm of Cerruti 1881 since April 2012, has chosen to break with tradition and breathe new energy into the brand for his Spring/Summer 2014 collection.
Usually very clean-cut and classic, the Cerruti man is taking on a modern attitude and getting closer to his artistic side. Fitted garments are the norm, but this season we get to see more playful pieces in this wardrobe. As the show opens with serious silhouettes including long coats and black sweaters, Mr. Camillo gradually takes us into a lighter, more original world.
Belts, which give structure to the silhouette, are worn at unexpected levels (on the torso, for example) and this feature is often seen in the collection on camel, grey and navy blue coats.
The blazers are impeccable, one of the menswear house’s specialties. Delicate prints appear throughout the show, inspired by the marine spirit and ropes.
The color palette includes black, white, eggplant and various shades of blue.
The originality of the Spring/Summer 2014 collection was embodied by: Arthur Gosse, Miles Langford, Rutger Schoone, Pascal Bonvie, Alexander Beck,Ian Sharp, Yannick Abrath, Tomek Szczukiecki, Aiden Andrews, Guerrino Santulliana, Louis Steyaert, Reece Sanders, Paul Boche and Thomas Bukovatz.
