After Tokyo, Rome and New York, the BMW i Tour makes a stopover in Paris to showcase its vision of eco-responsible personal mobility.
BMW i, the brand “born electric”, presents its “recipes for life in the city” in an amazing vegetable garden created by Chef Alain Passard, on the roof of the Palais de Tokyo from April 4 to 7, 2013.
BMW i puts fresh ideas in the air in Paris.
From April 4 to 7, 2013, BMW i is exhibiting its concepts in Paris as part of the BMW i Tour, a world tour of 7 megacities. The 100% electric BMW i3 Concept Coupé and the plug-in hybrid BMW i8 Concept Spyder are stopping off at the Palais de Tokyo. Inspired by BMW’s vision of tomorrow’s environmentally-friendly mobility, a new brand has been created: BMW i.

The BMW i Tour is the first spectacular showcase. The Paris leg of this world tour, which has already included stops in Rome, Düsseldorf, Tokyo and New York, illustrates all the implications of BMW’s research into eco-responsible modes of transport.
BMW i, more than an electric car: an innovative project that will change the way you look at the city.
BMW i is revolutionizing the automotive industry by combining driving pleasure with sustainable development. From production to use, through to the design of materials, BMW i adopts a comprehensive and sustainable eco-responsible approach. Manufactured in a factory built especially for BMW i and supplied with 100% renewable energy, the cars are made from environmentally-friendly materials: leather tanned with chemical-free olive leaf extracts, eucalyptus inserts from responsible, FSC-certified forests, recycled plastic, vegetable fibers (kenaf). The BMW i3 Concept and i8 Concept feature a Life cell in CFRP (carbon-fiber-resin composite) and an aluminum Drive chassis. This compensates for the weight of the electric batteries while retaining exceptional rigidity, guaranteeing perfect safety for the cars’ occupants.
In everyday use, the BMW i3 Concept emits no CO2. This reconciliation of urban mobility and sustainable development in no way detracts from the performance and driving pleasure so characteristic of BMW cars: with remarkable acceleration (0-100km/h in 7.6s), a top speed limited to 150km/h and a range in real use of around 160 km, the BMW i3 Concept Coupé can be used for any daily commute. What’s more, its completely flat floor, tight turning radius (the shortest in the BMW range), small footprint and elevated driving position make it particularly at home in town.

The BMW i8 Concept is the sports car of the future: a striking aerodynamic design, exceptional performance (0-100km/h in 4.6s, top speed 250km/h) and a hybrid powertrain combining an electric motor and a combustion engine to produce 354hp are the strong points of this great sports car. Its fuel consumption of 2.7l/100km is a technological feat.
BMW i asked chef Alain Passard to create a spectacular vegetable garden on the roof of the Palais de Tokyo. Indeed, the same notion of responsible pleasure is shared by BMW i and Alain Passard. It is in this exceptional, ephemeral setting that the union between urbanity and nature will be magnified! French chef Alain Passard has embarked on a truly sustainable gastronomic revolution by choosing to devote himself to vegetable cuisine. Growing his own 100% natural vegetables, the chef masters food from production to plate at his restaurant L’Arpège. By visiting this vegetable garden, you’ll discover the shared universes of BMW i and Alain Passard, you’ll discover a plant world right in the heart of the city, and you’ll inevitably adopt a new vision of the city. From the garden to the BMW i, there’s just one step!
BMW i Tour from April 4 to 07, 2013 at the Palais de Tokyo, 13 avenue du Président Wilson, 75 116 Paris, from 12 noon to midnight. Visit of the vegetable garden by appointment.
