Hollywood tribute to Elizabeth Taylor’s Bulgari jewelry

On February 19, just before the Oscars and for the first time, Bulgari presented and exhibited jewelry that belonged to Elizabeth Taylor, the glamorous icon par excellence of the 60s.
A true tribute to the glamour of those years and to Bulgari’s Italian heritage, the evening was set to the theme of La Dolce Vita.

At the new Bulgari boutique in Beverly Hills, visitors could admire the pieces Elizabeth Taylor received and wore throughout her life, including those she
wore on the set of the film Cleopatra and those that punctuated her romance with Richard Burton.

The collection includes a Tremblant brooch in emeralds and diamonds, the very first Bulgari piece owned by Elizabeth Taylor, as well as the famous Cleopatra mirror. This gold and turquoise mirror was commissioned by the actress herself, but rumor has it that it was given to her as a 30th birthday present. The “Taylor Burton fiancée ring”, a diamond brooch with 23.44 octagonal-cut diamonds, a diamond and emerald necklace, a platinum sautoir with diamonds and sapphires, and finally, one of Elizabeth Taylor’s most frequently worn pieces: a gold and diamond sautoir set with 6 ancient Roman coins.

The staging of this unique exhibition, revealed just a few days before the Oscars, was designed to evoke the Rome of the 60s, when movie stars from all over the world flocked to the Eternal City. Prestigious guests enjoyed this timeless moment, including celebrities such as Julianne Moore, Kirsten Dunst, Drew Barrymore, Naomi Watts, Gale Harold, Kate Walsh, Marisa Tomei, Prince Emanuele Filiberto of Savoy and Clotilde Courau, Paul Haggis…

For the occasion, Julianne Moore wore for the first time Elisabeth Taylor’s extraordinary 1962 platinum necklace set with 16 cut emeralds (60.5 cts), whose pendant, set with a 23.44-ct emerald, can be detached to be worn as a brooch.

Drew Barrymore wore a rose gold Haute Joaillerie necklace with amethysts, citrine, rubellite, blue topaz, peridot, green beryl and pavé diamonds as well
as a yellow gold Haute Joaillerie ring with green tourmaline and pavé diamonds.

Kirsten Dunst wore Haute Joaillerie earrings in platinum and brilliant-cut diamonds, and a
Haute Joaillerie ring in white gold with a brilliant-cut diamond and pavé diamonds.

Naomi Watts wore a rose gold Haute Joaillerie necklace with amethysts, spinels, chalcedony and pavé diamonds.
