We still remember the Homme SS11 show, a veritable artistic performance during which the models flooded the gardens of the Louvre with immaculate foam
(http://www.tranoi.com/news.php?id_news=246), or the FW 10/11 women’s collection, which featured half-mangas, half-punks models, evolving in a universe
between destroy gym and 80’s pop supermarket (http://www.tranoi.com/news.php?id_news=245)
January 19, 2pm: Sruli Recht
The Icelandic-born Israeli designer presents his fifth complete menswear collection during Tranoï. 28 silhouettes in all, the majority of which are constructed in one piece, using a hybrid origami of sewing, draping and digital modification. Materials are carefully selected: Japanese denim and heavy satin, goatskin, walnut, cashmere rib, metallic knit, Austrian felt, waxed cotton plaid, viscose jersey, wool and modal jersey, silk and cupro shirting, wool skins, rabbit fur… Among these innovations is Anthropodermic leather.
During a performance, a plastic surgeon removed a 110mm x 10mm strip of skin from Sruli’s abdomen. The subcutaneous tissue and epidermis were then scraped free of fat by hand and blade, before being salted and tanned with an alum solution. The resulting leather from the dermis was mounted on a 24-carat gold support and used in a model (n°9) presented during the show.
