The W9 Home Festival invites artists into your home

In Paris and Neuilly, on September 29, the HOME festival took over 9 secret locations, where 19 artists played for 9 hours… Behind this unique event is a TV channel: W9, of course, always ready to bring us great musical moments.

The concept is simple and generous: take over private venues (in this case apartments, houseboats, etc.) and invite popular artists, bands, soloists and DJs to produce live performances that will subsequently be broadcast on W9 and M6.

And best of all, the festival was free, albeit by invitation. Numerous media partners made the event possible, including M6 and W9 (from the same group), as well as RTL2, Paris City Hall, Deezer, Le Parisien and Crédit Mutuel. They gave their customers and fans the chance to experience exceptional, never-before-seen moments!

The program included national and international headliners such as : Cali, Catherine Ringer, Skip the Use, Tryo, Oxmo Puccino, Wax Tailor, Lilly Wood and The Prick, C2C, Beat Assailant and Skye(pictured below).

Between the banks of the Seine and the opulent 16th arrondissement, I was lucky enough to be able to string together three show-cases, each lasting around half an hour.

First with French band Skip The Use, who gave their all in a cosy barge, where seventy privileged guests enjoyed their sparkling performance. The weather was warm, like a real “gig” full of spontaneity and humor, thanks to charismatic singer/leader Matt Bastard.

A few hundred meters away, I joined a good hundred guests, who had the extreme patience to wait for C2C, the festival’s flagship band, who had fallen victim to a Mac breakdown… the apartment, with its splendid garden, was so welcoming that it didn’t really pose a problem.

And above all, it was well worth the effort, because their show is nothing short of breathtaking! It’s like watching a sound choreography, mastered to perfection by the 4 star DJs. You have to experience it at least once: you can’t help but get caught up in the rhythm, and want to dance!

Finally, after racing against the clock to get to La Muette, in-extremis, I attended the intimate concert by La Grande Sophie. Okay, I’m basically a fan, but here she gave it her all, like a great artist full of humility. And she knew how to share with the audience, who fell under her spell.

Her final song,“je ne changerai jamais”(I’ll never change), a suave acoustic version, enchanted us all; she mingled with the audience, played along, and got the guests to take part in her show, like a big family at home.

A behind-the-scenes look at the festival will be revealed in an hour-long documentary produced for the occasion, to be shown on November 24 on W9 : don’t miss it! And, of course, the live shows will be broadcast on the channel from November 3, so you can relive these magical moments as your favorite artists perform in unique conditions!
