Cerise Doucède wins the Royal Monceau Photography Competition

On December 15, during the opening of the exhibition, the jury of the “Royal Monceau Photography Competition” announced the name of the final winner. Cerise Doucède was chosen by a majority vote to create the special commission for the Royal Monceau – Raffles Paris.
She will receive the sum of 20,000 euros for her photographic project, which will join the Royal Monceau’s collection of 320 works in the hotel’s rooms and suites.
Cerise Doucède was one of five finalists, along with Emile Hyperion Dubuisson, Laura Henno, Cara Phillips and Ofer Wolberger, selected last May for their work on the theme of portraiture.
After training in graphic design, Cerise Doucède turned to photography. With her “Égarements” series of photographic installations, Cerise illustrates a varied panorama of small, everyday hallucinations of which we can all be protagonists. Lost in their own thoughts, the characters project their fears, obsessions and fantasies onto the settings and objects that surround them.
The Royal Monceau Photography Competition was created last February to highlight and support young French photography. It reflects the ambition of the Royal Monceau – Raffles Paris, under the leadership of its curator Hervé Mikaeloff, to be a place open to artists and contemporary creation in all its vitality and diversity.
To mark the occasion, the five finalists will each exhibit five of their works at the Art District, the gallery of the Royal Monceau – Raffles Paris.
According to Ömer Acar, General Manager of the Royal Monceau-Raffles Paris: “As a Parisian Palace dedicated to art and culture, the Royal Monceau has created this competition with the intention of contributing to the Parisian artistic and cultural scene. We hope that our guests, Parisians and travelers in search of new trends in art, will visit the Art District gallery to discover the works of these remarkable young artists.
