Ping me by Blackberry at Colette!

For those who know me a little bit, I have a hobby: I hang badges on all my overcoats according to my moods. And now, I have just participated in the beginnings of an operation that you would think was just for me!

As a new Blackberry user, I love to use my Blackberry to communicate with my friends and to have everything I need at my fingertips when I’m on the go: my appointments, the fashion show schedule, my professional and personal emails. I made it an essential accessory just like an it bag or my favorite pair of shoes.

But what I prefer above all is Blackberry Messenger (BBM) which allows me to exchange instant messages everywhere and quickly with my other Blackberry contacts and this for free thanks to my PIN code, a simple code composed of 6 numbers and letters.

Another new MSN you may say, but no, with BBM you don’t need to subscribe to a network, you just have to install the application on your Blackberry and open it. The BlackBerry thanks to its PIN code connects via the RIM network (“Research In Motion Limited”, owned by Blackberry). We make requests to our Blackberrist contacts by entering their PIN or scanning their barcode and once the request is accepted, they end up in our BBM contacts. You can send them instant messages, find out what they’re listening to and even see their “profile” picture change.

BBM is now a part of everyone’s life, whether they are first time blackberrists or new initiates. But few of us know our PIN code by heart. You have to look for it in the options or by opening Blackberry Messenger.

Since the middle of March, Blackberry has undertaken a major communication campaign to raise awareness of its products: Do what you love, Love what you do!

And with this in mind, it decided to highlight its flagship application: Blackberry Messenger by creating an unprecedented operation with the famous Parisian concept store.

Indeed, Colette and Blackberry invite you from June 1st to 5th, 2010, to come and get a free black badge “PING ME!” with your PIN code, to recognize each other between Blackberry owners. No need to search for your PIN code in your smartphone anymore, it becomes easily accessible by displaying it on our jackets or by customizing our clothes or our bags.

For my part, I had the honor of being among the first owners of these exclusive badges, and it has already joined the lapel of my jacket.

So Blackberrist friends, if you see me in the street, Ping me (I’m Famous) until you get yours!

NdLR: the PIN code on the badge shown is not mine.
