Avant-garde fashion house Children of the discordance once again marked its presence at Milan Fashion Week, presenting its Autumn-Winter 2024 collection in an innovative digital format. On January 16 at 10:30 am CET, the fashion film HATSUGEN, created for the event, was broadcast on the CNMI platform (milanofashion-week.cameramoda.it), marking an important milestone in the brand’s evolution.

The film HATSUGEN, produced and directed by studio exp(x), reflects the eponymous collection. Inspired by Japanese independent hip-hop artist Mamenchisaurus and his song “HATSUGEN”, the film explores the themes of everyday conflict and the decisions that arise from it. The song’s lyrics, emphasizing the importance of individual expression and the pursuit of originality, had a profound influence on Hideaki Shikama, the brand’s creative director.

Children of the discordance’s Fall-Winter 24 collection continues to push the boundaries of fashion with original fabrics and unique aesthetics. Hand-painted fabrics on paisley jacquard, “Ultra Suede” fabric developed by Toray Industries, and textiles dyed with natural vegetables from Rajasthan, India, are examples of the brand’s innovation and originality. Shades of black, white and grey, as well as new combinations of dull white with shades of brown and touches of gold, define the season’s palette.

Founded in 2011, Children of the discordance was born from a collective of three friends with a passion for hip-hop and hardcore music. Their unique approach to fashion, creating one-off pieces from fair-trade materials and recycled textiles, quickly established the brand as a key player in contemporary fashion. The use of vintage bandanas, a signature of the brand, continues to distinguish each piece as unique.

With a rich history of collaboration and recognition, including winning the Tokyo Fashion Award in 2017 and several notable appearances at Tokyo and Milan Fashion Weeks, Children of the discordance is positioned as a leader in the world of sustainable and innovative fashion.
