For Maria Grazia Chiuri, each collection represents visual poetry, a dialogue between the history of Dior and the contemporary world. Here, she wanted to highlight the women who contributed to Monsieur Dior’s success, the true creative forces celebrated by Justine Picardie in her book Miss Dior*, which traces the life of Catherine, Christian Dior’s sister.
Maria Grazia Chiuri has transformed the emblematic jute bags of the Dior family business into a symbol of a new sisterhood: that of the House of Dior, whose motto is L’union fait la force. The maxim of this Dior Fall 2022 line pays homage to the participative dimension at the heart of the Artistic Director’s inventive process, and underlines the major inspiration of the show: uniforms. These outfits allow us to integrate into a group, by erasing differences, but also to stand out through their personalization and detour(s). These bold silhouettes express strong concepts such as communion and sharing.
