Qatar announces plans to open more than 100 new hotels for the 2022 World Cup
In preparation for hosting the FIFA World Cup in 2022TM, 105 new hotels and serviced apartments will soon be added to Qatar’s already extensive portfolio. These new properties will increase Qatar’s appeal to a wide range of travelers and enhance the visitor experience, as Qatar Tourism continues its mission to make the country a leading destination.
The Banyan Tree Doha, a five-star luxury property elegantly designed by renowned French interior architect Jacques Garcia, recently opened its doors. Other hotel openings this year include the five-star Pullman Doha West Bay, owned by the Accor Group, the JW Marriott West Bay, whose imposing exterior immediately catches the eye, and the Steigenberger Hotel, renowned for its exclusive hospitality. Each of these new hotels will add a unique element or experience to Qatar’s existing 183 properties, which total almost 32,000 rooms.
Qatar Airways Group Managing Director and Secretary General of Qatar Tourism, His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al Baker, said: “We continue to expand our tourism offering to ensure that customers enjoy the best of Qatari hospitality while having the option of choosing a hotel or apartment to suit their budget and needs. These new properties are part of our strategy to diversify our offering and broaden our appeal to visitors. We are pleased to expand our global tourism offering in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030 plan, and to offer travelers more options to discover the best of Qatar.”
The Banyan Tree Doha offers an oasis of luxury in the heart of the city. The five-star hotel boasts five restaurants as well as 341 rooms, suites and residences offering a host of services and facilities, all set in a circular architectural marvel. Visitors to the Banyan Tree Spa can enjoy a complete relaxing and revitalizing interlude thanks to Rainforest hydrotherapy, a sanctuary for the senses with a vitality pool, herbal sauna, hammam and unique rain walk.
To combine work and leisure, the Pullman Doha West Bay, due to open later this year, will offer 375 rooms and suites as well as 93 elegant apartments. Contemporary conference rooms and a vast ballroom will make it a must for business events, while the nine creative gourmet establishments, gym, avant-garde spa and luxurious outdoor pool will create a true haven of relaxation.
Those wishing to enjoy breathtaking views of the Doha skyline will soon be able to stay at the 53-storey JW Marriott West Bay. This skyscraper features a terraced swimming pool on the 30th floor, 297 rooms, several restaurants and state-of-the-art sports and fitness facilities.
Those looking for accommodation close to the airport can book a room at the Steigenberger Hotel Doha. This futuristic building will house 204 rooms and suites, a spa, gym and rooftop pool, as well as a variety of dining options. A 400 m² ballroom and six conference rooms also make it an ideal venue for private and business events.
