At the end of 2016, we flew to Portugal to discover the all-new Renault Zoe, a great success that proves that driving 100% electric has never been so easy.

Renault equips ZOE with a new Z.E. 40 battery. This innovation doubles ZOE’s range. It makes it the consumer electric vehicle that goes the furthest on a single charge. Already the number 1 selling electric vehicle in Europe, ZOE’s range of uses has been extended, while remaining affordable.

For Renault, Europe’s electric vehicle pioneer and market leader, the ZOE with the Z.E. 40 battery is further proof of its proactive strategy to roll out zero-emission vehicles on a large scale.

Renault offers innovative connected services with the new ZOE. To simplify all types of journeys, Z.E. Trip and Z.E. Pass facilitate access to public charging points and recharging. In the first half of 2017, these connected services will be enhanced by a new smartphone application, featuring door-to-door navigation. The high level of connectivity enjoyed by ZOE also enables charging to be modulated according to the cost and carbon intensity of electricity.

Renault is upgrading the ZOE trim levels. A new version – ZOE EDITION ONE/BOSE2 – is available for customers looking for exclusive features and super sound. New features, mainly in terms of design, are also available on the other trim levels.

Range doubled
“The doubling of ZOE’s range is another decisive step towards making the electric vehicle available to everyone”. Eric Feunteun – Director of the Electric Vehicle Division
A range of 400 km NEDC, now and for everyone, thanks to the Z.E. 40 battery. Thanks to its doubled range, the new ZOE sees its usage possibilities widen, while remaining the most affordable electric vehicle on the market. And that changes everything! With its new Z.E. 40 battery, ZOE’s range is double that of its launch, offering 300 km in real urban and suburban use. This means it can be easily recharged for a wider variety of uses. ZOE’s new range may well convince those who are still hesitating to opt for an electric vehicle.

The doubling of ZOE’s range gives drivers a new freedom of movement. It facilitates journeys that are longer than those usually seen on a day-to-day basis, as well as unplanned trips. ZOE drivers can cover distances twice as long on a single charge. For example, they can take the ZOE away for the weekend without needing to recharge it en route.
The 400 km NEDC range comes mainly from the new battery co-developed by Renault and LG Chem. It is also thanks to ZOE’s excellent fuel efficiency.

– ZOE rivals equivalent internal combustion models in terms of purchase price, in many countries with scale incentives for more environmentally-friendly vehicles. It’s also economical to run, thanks in particular to lower costs for recharging electricity and vehicle maintenance.
– In the electric vehicle market, the new ZOE is particularly competitively priced, whatever the equipment level or country of sale.
– With its 400 km NEDC range, the new ZOE’s “range/price” ratio is unbeatable. This puts it well ahead of its competitors in many markets.
And always… a sustained recharging rate,
thanks to the CaméléonTM charger
ZOE quickly recovers additional kilometers of range, thanks to its intelligent CaméléonTM charger, patented by Renault, which adapts to different charging points to extract maximum power.
– By way of example, it takes an average of 30 minutes for ZOE to have an additional range of 80 km on the vast majority of public access charging points available in Europe6.
– And to make the most of the power of fast-charging stations, especially along motorway corridors, ZOE is always available with the Quick Charge function. It takes an average of 30 minutes to recover an additional range of 120 km7.
The CameléonTM charger gives ZOE a charging rate 2 to 6 times higher than other general-purpose electric vehicles on the vast majority of public access charge points (power between 22 and 43 kW).
As the CameléonTM charger is directly integrated under the hood of the vehicle, the user only needs to connect ZOE to the charge point from the single socket on the car side.

All Renault Group production electric vehicles have been designed and developed by designers and engineers at the Renault Technocentre in Guyancourt, near Paris. They are also all manufactured at Group plants. This electrical expertise is mainly located in France, a privileged territory for high value-added design and manufacturing. Renault designed and manufactures ZOE, as well as most of its mechanical components.
– More than 60 patents have been filed for the development of ZOE. The first car designed exclusively for 100% electric technology in Europe, ZOE is a concentrate of innovations designed to make driving easy and enjoyable.
– ZOE is manufactured at Renault’s Flins plant (near Paris), on the same production line as Renault Clio.
– Renault’s Flins plant also assembles the new Z.E. 40 battery, as well as the 22 kWh battery.
– ZOE’s R90 engine was entirely designed by Renault, and 95 patents have been filed. One of the major innovations in this development is the miniaturization of the Power Electronic Controller, integrating the interconnection box, power electronics and Cameleon charger in a volume 25% smaller than that of the previous engine.
– The R90 engine is manufactured at the Renault plant in Cléon (Normandy), the Group’s flagship for the production of high value-added engines and gearboxes (Energy engines, Renault Sport engines, etc.).
– Finally, the housing that integrates the battery into the car, and the front and rear axles of the ZOE, are 100% Renault mechanical components. They are manufactured at the Renault plant in Le Mans (Sarthe), and were designed by the Renault Group’s Chassis and Electric Vehicle engineering department.
The Renault Group benefits from expertise acquired as the benchmark for electric vehicles, both production and competition. As a pioneer and leader in electric vehicles in Europe, Renault encourages the development of Formula E, a discipline in which 100% electric single-seaters compete in cities around the world. A technical and sporting partner of the championship in its 1st season, the Renault e.dams team retained its title in the teams’ championship and won the drivers’ championship in the 2015/2016 season.

Behind the wheel of Renault’s electric vehicles, driving is above all a surprising combination of tonicity and calm: tonicity thanks to lively acceleration and acceleration from low revs, and calm thanks to the absence of engine noise and vibration.

ZOE is an invigorating, easy-to-handle vehicle that’s a pleasure to drive, thanks to a chassis adapted to electrical specifications and to the work carried out on fine-tuning the steering, tires and shock absorbers.
– In a fraction of a second, the R90 electric motor delivers a maximum torque of 225 Nm, enabling rapid acceleration and acceleration from low revs. Acceleration from 0 to 50 km/h – a range frequently encountered in urban use – takes just 4 seconds.
– Acceleration is fluid, perfectly linear and smooth. For the driver, it’s like having the best automatic gearbox on the market.
At the same time, the electric nature of ZOE makes for a quieter, more relaxing drive, thanks in particular to the absence of engine noise and vibrations.

As a genetically connected vehicle, ZOE is equipped with new services that connect it in real time to its environment, to simplify its driver’s daily life. Direct access to European charging points, with Z.E. Trip and Z.E. Pass
Z.E. Trip and Z.E. Pass make recharging easier at public access charging points. They make it easier to use your ZOE for all kinds of journeys, whether short, long, recurring or occasional. Locating available charging points via the ZOE navigation system
The Z.E. Trip application enables drivers to plan a new ZOE journey with peace of mind, thanks to the location and identification of publicly accessible charging points in major European countries. Z.E. Trip locates charging points and provides real-time information on each terminal (availability, power, socket).
– Z.E. Trip is an application in ZOE’s Renault multimedia R-LINK system. It lets you select a charging point and navigate to it.
– Users can also access this information at any time on the Internet, to prepare their journey for example.
– Z.E. Trip indicates terminal availability to avoid waiting.
– Thanks to this application, ZOE drivers can also select charging stations by type of charge, more or less powerful, and therefore faster or slower.

Payment for recharging, regardless of terminal operator or country, via the driver’s smartphone
The Z.E. Pass application enables drivers to recharge their ZOE directly at most of the terminals identified on their route in Europe.
– The ZOE driver identifies accessible charging points and compares the cost of recharging at nearby stations, directly on his or her smartphone or tablet.
– They can access a maximum number of terminals without having to multiply the number of subscriptions specific to each network, thanks to “pay-per-recharge”.
– Payment is made via the dedicated smartphone application or with the RFID technology badge handed out at the dealership.

And still… more and more charging points
Renault is encouraging the deployment of electric charging points, in both private and public places.
– The number of public access charging points has been growing at an annual rate of between 30% and 60% since 2013. This trend is set to accelerate over the next few years.
– To date, there are over 100,000 of them worldwide, including 80,000 in Europe. In France, for example, there are 15,000 today, and the figure is set to rise to around 40,000 in 2017.
Alongside public authorities and other players in electric mobility, such as energy suppliers, the Renault Group is supporting a number of projects to install fast-charging points along motorway corridors and major trunk roads. These charging points enable the ZOE to recover between 80 and 120 km of range during a 30-minute break.
There are around 2,300 fast-charging points in some 15 European countries.

Renault is launching a new version of the ZOE, featuring premium leather upholstery and the BOSE® audio system. It is available in a limited edition called “EDITION ONE” in France, and with a “BOSE” equipment level in other European countries.

An elegant design that we approve of.
Essentially designed for customers looking for exclusive features, ZOE EDITION ONE/BOSE focuses on elegance.
– ZOE EDITION ONE/BOSE features an exclusive Yttrium Grey color, in addition to most of ZOE’s usual body colors.
– It comes with 17″ Techrun wheels in France, and new 16″ Noir Diamanté Shadow wheels in other European countries.
– Premium leather upholstery. The soft, supple look of the material is due in particular to the rigorous selection of hides. The glittery Brown color and elegant craftsmanship (stitching on seats and backrests, hot stamping on the driver’s headrest, etc.) contribute to its aesthetic appeal.
– The dashboard fascia takes on a slightly gilded appearance. A Smoky Grey Bright Metallic finish covers the air vent trims, R-LINK totem, interior door handles, speaker trims, gearshift base and steering wheel insert. On the doors, the medallions are Smoked Grey, and the front armrests are clad in a high-quality Metallic Brown material. Thick upholstery and front door sills branded with the version’s name complete the package.

All-round comfort
ZOE’s cabin is particularly quiet, with no engine noise or vibration, making it the ideal place to enjoy BOSE® sound. The premium BOSE® audio system in ZOE EDITION ONE/BOSE features 7 harmoniously distributed speakers.
– The 4 high-performance loudspeakers deliver a rich, full sound: 2 neodymium bass drivers, specially developed for their light weight, are integrated into the front doors, and 2 full-range drivers are mounted in the rear doors.
– The 2 2.5 cm tweeters, located on the dashboard, ensure clear, balanced sound reproduction.
– The subwoofer, located in the trunk, produces realistic, deep bass. It benefits from BOSE® waveguide technology, which spreads the sound widely despite the compactness of the subwoofer, for clear reproduction of the lowest notes.

ZOE EDITION ONE/BOSE also focuses on thermal and postural well-being.
– The front seats are heated and offer 3 temperature levels for immediate thermal comfort.
– The driver’s seat features manual lumbar adjustment to suit all body sizes.

ZOE EDITION ONE/BOSE is available in Yttrium Grey, Pearl White, Glacier White, Frost Grey, Star Black and Titanium Grey.

Renault’s new ZOE is therefore a car that confirms its status as a benchmark model in the sector, without neglecting style or connectivity.
