Appearance, exterior: it’s not just something superficial. A person’s appearance is the first thing you remember when you meet them, and it helps you build a picture of who they are. A pair of pants, a blouse, tights or mules say a lot about a person and the care they take of themselves. Dressing to be in tune with oneself means above all respecting oneself, saying what you want without taboos.

Freedom of dress: no, it’s not an easy cause, given the stereotypes still lurking in our minds about what a woman, a man, an elderly person, a Latina should wear…

To understand the relationship between gender and fashion, the &Other Stories brand invited five transgender artists to talk about their relationships to the fashion world, on the occasion of the brand’s new capsule collection. Since its creation in 2013, it has maintained, like a challenge to conventions, the search for collaborations with artists from all horizons whose proposals ask questions about the current status of fashion.

The notion of gender raises questions and creates fear. Fear, because for many, contemporary changes represent a loss of traditional reference points. The point here is not to debate the issue, but to be open to it: and fashion seems to have long been the land of choice, where conventional codes of masculinity and femininity are turned on their head. Whether it’s Jean-Paul Gaultier, or Givenchy, which has Brazilian transgender model Léa T. on the catwalk, the world of fashion plays an influential role in today’s changing outlook.

& Other Stories , a new story with models Valentijn de Hingh and Hari Nef . A new collection that marks the meeting of sportswear and ready-to-wear through a dress, a parka or an anorak. Functional fabrics make up this wardrobe, which blends perfectly into the daily lives of men and women. That is, if they still have any meaning in this story. Clothes to write who you are, in total freedom.

&Other Stories has spirit, which is why it can only last.
