Alexandre Delima unveiled a collection full of measure and character for this coming season. While some showcased long trains, ample volumes, finely edged veils, crystal embroidery or the eminence of a tiara at Haute Couture Week, Alexandre Delima stood out for his level-headedness and fearless allure. In any case, he thrives on altercation.

Undeniably, this is a collection that exudes youth, audacity and lightness. An apology for ‘Less is more’, as if ready-to-wear had suddenly taken on a new dimension. But make no mistake, this is haute couture, and you only have to look at the details of the creations to see that. Feathers at the hem of short dresses, structured blaser jackets with copper patches or suede sculpted in symmetrical ethnic fashion, fur blouses reworked to constitute the outfit on their own, long dresses that entice with a play of controlled transparencies, bustiers that catch the eye with discreet pearl embroidery…

The long blends with the short, the bold with the practical, the erotic with the elegant. A collection with character and playfulness, because it gives you more where you expected less, and little where you expected plenty. It surprises you without overdoing it.

Born in Lima, Delima grew up in Washington, raised by an Iranian father and a French mother who met in Saigon, the Peruvian-born designer is selective in his influences.
