A city of incomparable magic, Venice is an unforgettable jewel, its Venetian palaces inspiring generations of architects and its canals attracting billions of lovers. A few days ago, Venice was able to add another jewel to its marvellous palaces, a jewel that is the flagship of one of the world’s finest hotel groups: Marriott.

The JW Marriott Venice Resort & Spa was inaugurated on June 24. We had the immense pleasure of taking part in the festivities, and we’re going to try and bring you back to this magnificent moment.

We arrived at the airport in a deluge of rain, a rarity in Venice, and headed for our cab boat and then on to the Isola delle Rose, home of this incredible resort. The rain only added to the mystery of this city, which I was discovering for the first time.

It’s only as we approach the island that we realize how exceptional and majestic this place is. We enter the private port for guest arrivals and departures, and can begin a typically Venetian experience from the private island of Isola delle Rose.

A 16-hectare property with a unique atmosphere
A hotel with a singular character, the JW Marriott Venice Resort & Spa offers 5 accommodation experiences – from double rooms to private villas – each with its own unique atmosphere and views over the lagoon. Designed in collaboration with the architectural firm Matteo Thun & Partners, the décor subtly blends ultra-modern design with the authenticity of the island’s historic buildings.

Italian Dolce Vita
On the food and beverage front, gourmets and food lovers can choose from four restaurants and five bars for a culinary journey to suit their tastes. The Dopolavoro gourmet restaurant features a menu by two-Michelin-starred chef Giancarlo Perbellini. And for travelers wishing to discover all the secrets of Italian cuisine, the hotel also boasts two schools dedicated to wine and cuisine.

We were able to sample these creations during the inaugural events, as a cocktail party was held at the Sagra Poolside Bar, a magnificent rooftop overlooking the whole of Venice, where you can sip cocktails and enjoy local dishes by the pool. You can also discover the Cuccina in the gardens.

Italian gastronomy is an integral part of the hotel, not only in the various restaurants, but also in the cooking and oenology courses offered to holidaymakers. In fact, we were able to meet the hotel’s sommelier for a workshop. Despite his young age, he is one of the best sommeliers in the world and the best sommelier in Italy.

GOCO Spa Venice, the city’s largest spa
Spread over 1750 square meters, with its breathtaking view of the city, GOCO Spa Venice is a temple dedicated to well-being. It boasts eight treatment rooms, including several outdoor pavilions, an indoor and outdoor aquatonic pool, a spa suite, a hammam and yoga and meditation gardens. The service is exceptional and the view absolutely radiant. Finally, guests can also enjoy the resort’s two swimming pools and numerous activities such as introductory workshops in Murano glass and Venetian mask making, or art initiation workshops in partnership with the Guggenheim Museum for children.

But of course, the highlight of the show is Venice. The most romantic, most pictorial city in the world.

To celebrate the opening of this extraordinary resort, festivities were organized all over the island-resort.
