To celebrate the 68th anniversary of the Cannes Film Festival, the Hôtel Barrière Le Majestic Cannes, the closest luxury hotel to the Palais des Festivals, is dressed to the nines to welcome a host of guests to the most eagerly awaited event in the 7th art.
Thanks to its worldwide renown, it has already welcomed celebrities such as Francis Ford Coppola, Pénélope Cruz and Morgan Freeman. And with good reason, the Majestic has been the Festival’s most loyal partner ever since François André, the group’s founder, made the hotel’s Casino available to the Festival for the organization of its first edition, back in 1946.
During these few days, the palace is fully booked, its 349 rooms and suites being reserved by the dozen or so a year in advance for the occasion. The hotel also boasts the most expensive suite on the Côte d’Azur, constantly occupied during the Festival: the Penthouse Majestic. This suite offers guests 650m of duplex living space, with unique features such as a hairdressing salon, fitness room and 150m rooftop terrace with swimming pool. From the Majestic’s 7th floor, the view of the Bay of Cannes and the steps of the Palais des Festivals is simply sumptuous. The price of this 7th heaven in the middle of the Cannes Film Festival: 39,000 euros.
The restaurants serve 25,000 meals, either at table or at receptions for up to a thousand guests. In terms of dressing rooms, the star of the palace scene is not to be underestimated: to shine on the Cannes red carpet, all you have to do is climb to the sixth floor in the Dior suite, where the showroom of the famous Haute Couture house is located. As a result, television and radio programs benefit from the palace’s reputation. 500 programs are produced or broadcast from Le Majestic, a key venue for the Cannes Film Festival.
