For the fast-approaching summer of 2015, Stanislav Vadrna, Nikka Whisky’s ambassador in Europe, has come up with two refreshing cocktails to enjoy as an aperitif in the sunshine.
Tsukimi Cocktail
This cocktail with Nikka Coffey Grain is characterized by a powerful fruity aroma and a long finish. With its notes of exotic fruit and vanilla, Nikka Coffey Grain goes perfectly with apricot liqueur. Fino sherry adds freshness and complexity.
Recipe:
40 ml Nikka Coffey Grain Whisky
20 ml Xérès Fino
15 ml Merlet “Lune d’Abricot” liqueur
lemon zest
Preparation: Combine ingredients in a mixing glass with ice cubes. Stir and serve in a chilled cup without ice.
Asagao Fizz
With its high proof of 51.4%, Nikka From the Barrel lends itself particularly well to cocktails. Its strong character and roundness perfectly support aromatic ingredients such as passion fruit or absinthe.
50 ml Nikka whisky From The Barrel
½ passion fruit
20 ml fresh lemon juice
25 ml cane sugar syrup
5 ml absinthe
1 egg white
30 ml sparkling water
Preparation: Combine all ingredients except sparkling water in a shaker with ice cubes. Stir and serve in a tumbler glass without ice. Top up with sparkling water.
