Glenmorangie Pride 1978
The creation of an exceptional malt
Glenmorangie has created the limited edition Pride 1978, an exceptional whisky that has been matured in five casks since 1978, with a further 15 years of maturation in casks containing fine Bordeaux wines – the longest maturation period ever known for a Glenmorangie whisky.
The creation of this extremely rare whisky was overseen by Dr. William Lumsden, considered the pioneer of the single malt industry. Dr. Lumsden put all his expertise into the creation of this whisky, which boasts a vast palette of aromas offering a tasting experience that is bound to be exceptional.

Pride 1978 whisky is presented in a boxed set of 700 numbered copies, blended by three artists using their talents to serve this singular malt.
Glenmorangie has once again called on Laurence Brabant and Wouter Scheublin, original creators of the “Pride 1981” decanter and box, and designers of a new, unique collector’s item for “Pride 1978”.
Each boxed set will be accompanied by a work by English artist Idris Kahn, revealed at the launch of Pride 1978.
This singular object will delight collectors of exceptional spirits with a unique experience that appeals to all the senses.
Tasting notes
Color: Burnished copper.
Nose: Sweet notes of wood and nuts, tobacco aromas, leather notes, menthol, ginger. Then come heady aromas of incense, cinnamon and spiced baked apples.
Palate: A powerful explosion of peppery spice, as baked fruit gives way to a solid oak structure, with aromas of clove, cinnamon and pronounced anise.
Finish: Creamy sweetness of caramel and vanilla meets caramelized citrus, blackcurrant, chocolate and café au lait.
