Yohji Yamamoto’s dandies question their identityWelcoming us to his home for his show, in the heart of Paris’s Marais district, Yohji Yamamoto immediately creates a sense of intimacy, which is also felt in each collection. Season after season, even if his loose-fitting suits, black-and-white schemes and deconstructions evoke nothing new, all these elements define a fashion that’s distinctive, recognizable and comfortable. Of course, the designer always adds a few novelties, bringing out a total look in denim, leather inserts on other ensembles, jackets that finish open and strapped at the back. Not forgetting a touch of rock and humor, with posters of missing persons featuring his own photo… Yohji Yamamoto never stops questioning and renewing himself, and successfully answers all these questions on the catwalk.
