Sensual dancers as seen by Dries Van Noten…The new man at Dries Van Noten is more nude and sensual than other seasons, and it suits him just fine. The reason: the designer is inspired by dancers, from Nureyev to the Rosas company. The boys on the catwalk are dressed in long bathrobes and jogging pants. Leotards take on the appearance of straps over the body, worn over open shirts. Re-embroidered jackets, references to costumes, become harnesses that strap on coats and change posture and allure. T-shirts are supple, like these long, overlapping marcels. Even the costumes become fluid, reminiscent of dancers at evening performances or entertaining guests in their apartments. The references are numerous, scattered throughout the collection: a numbered label appears on a sweatshirt, dancers’ drawings are printed on a suit, shoes become ballerinas for men… Even if the main inspiration is present, there is always something new, emotional, and of course very thoughtful and constructed at Dries Van Noten, which inevitably gives men new desires…
