What is a Krama? The Krama is a Cambodian scarf. It is traditionally worn by Khmers to underline their belonging to the Cambodian people. More than a garment, it has a very strong symbolic value. The Krama also has a number of functions in the daily lives of Cambodians: for example, it can be used to protect from the sun, to carry infants or to cook rice.
Krama Héritage is a young French brand created by Alexandru and Raphael. Both fell in love with Cambodia and the symbolic value of this garment during a trip. So they decided to appropriate and share this Cambodian tradition by founding a scarf brand. All scarves are woven in limited series in the workshops of Phnom Penh according to traditional Cambodian know-how.
These young entrepreneurs have made scarves the new trendy accessory of Parisian fashion. Combining authenticity and exoticism, the scarves are unisex and adaptable to all styles. They are available in burgundy, midnight blue, pink and imperial green. These 100% cotton scarves are available at a single price of 29 euros from Galeries Lafayette.
As well as giving yourself a treat, buying a scarf means you can take part in Krama Héritage’s solidarity action. The brand supports the NGO Pour un sourire d’enfant. Every year, this association provides schooling for 6,000 pupils, as well as buying school equipment and paying for teachers and meals. For every scarf purchased, 3 euros are donated to the association. So why deprive yourself?
