With the Attitude Élysée #2 – Édition Liberté, Pequignet is not simply looking for a limited series.
The Manufacture de Morteau places the watch within a narrative of discreet sovereignty, in which French origin becomes an argument of construction.
The opening of preorders on 14 July 2026 gives this piece a symbolic reach as much as a commercial one.
The most defensible fact is the number: one hundred numbered pieces. In a field saturated with collaborations, this limit immediately narrows the subject. This is not mere co-branding but a piece placed under a constraint of rarity, following on from a first Attitude Élysée.
The choice of 14 July is not insignificant. It places the object in a civic, almost ceremonial timeframe, and turns the preorder into a calendar gesture. For a French Manufacture, this detail matters. It allows the watch to be read as a vehicle for a national narrative without tipping into demonstration. Liberty is not merely a word printed in a press release; it becomes a way of recalling that French watchmaking also exists through its workshops, its short supply chains and its capacity to manufacture away from the main Swiss axis.
Pequignet belongs to that particular corner of French watchmaking which cannot compete through the industrial power of the large groups, but which can build a more focused discourse: that of local demand, of declared manufacture and of the object in restricted series. The collaboration with the Presidency of the Republic offers it a rare institutional frame. It does not by itself guarantee horological value, but it strengthens the cultural legibility of the piece.
The useful content of the press release nevertheless remains incomplete. It mentions an edition of one hundred pieces, a second collaboration with the Élysée and a dated opening of preorders. In the body consulted, it does not give the mechanical details that would allow the object to be fully judged: calibre, power reserve, finishing, diameter, water resistance, case material, dial, strap, price. This gap calls for editorial caution. The article must not oversell the watch; it must set out what is known and what is awaited.
This is precisely where the angle lies. The Attitude Élysée #2 – Édition Liberté is worth first as a positioning signal. In a market where provenance becomes an element of desire as much as technical information, Pequignet chooses to tie its piece to a French institutional imaginary. The Manufacture is not selling only a watch, but an idea of anchoring: Morteau, the Élysée, 14 July, one hundred pieces.
It remains to be seen whether the object, once its specifications are fully available, will technically support this promise. Watchmaking is never satisfied for long with a symbol. It requires that the caseback, the movement and the finishing speak as clearly as the calendar.
