A few days ago in Paris, we attended the launch of Eau d’Issey City Blossom, a new version of Issey Miyake’s iconic fragrance.
It’s in a more urban setting that the brand wanted to reintroduce its fragrance, a springtime fragance imagined by Alberto Morillas and street artist Mademoiselle Maurice for this spring 2015.
The idea is to give a voice to city flowers, the pink berries.
The opening notes are of citrus, and a few citrus fruits have been favored, not forgetting a trace of calone, a nod to the mythical Eau d’Issey.
In a humid environment, freshness is accentuated by a heart that vibrates under the delicately honeyed flowers of osmanthis, the invitation to travel – to the other side of town – launched by freesia and magnolia: reserved and measured, the flower has preferred to keep its mystery by only half-opening.
Finally, on a base of natural Virginia white cedar, dominated by the powerful notes of ambrox and white musk, this imaginary bouquet takes shape and vigor, becoming “textured”, like the petals of a flower finally coming into contact with the skin… the flower unfurls fully and serenely with a subtle blend of grace and audacity.
To underline the poetry of this fragrance, Issey Miyake called on Mademoiselle Maurice, a young French visual artist, to create an ephemeral work imbued with gaiety and poetry, whose universe can be found not only on the bottles, but also in boutiques around the world.
