René Lacoste won numerous titles and prizes throughout his illustrious career, including an Olympic medal and seven Grand Slam victories. This tennis enthusiast has his own vision of the sport, according to which the best matches are those during which you play well, what he calls “the beautiful game”. Renowned for his tenacity on the court, René Lacoste is even better known for his polo shirt, which he invented in 1933. He gave it the name L.12.12: L for LACOSTE; 1 for his first choice of fabric, petit piqué; 2 for the short-sleeved version and 12 for the number of prototypes produced before the finished product. The EAU DE LACOSTE L.12.12 men’s fragrance collection captures the timeless spirit and authenticity of polo in a fragrance.
THE CASE
The bottle for the limited edition EAU DE LACOSTE L.12.12 echoes the cut and elegant simplicity of the LACOSTE L.12.12 polo shirt. Its contours are enhanced by a quilted mesh on both sides of the bottle. For this limited edition, the packaging is inspired by LACOSTE’s famous heritage in the world of tennis, enhanced by a few touches of fluo, recalling the vivid, graphic beauty of the yellow ball… LACOSTE gives a new, modern dimension to its crocodile, with an original fluo yellow version to bring a touch of sparkle to the heart of the fragrance, not forgetting the words “L.12.12” on the bottle and case.
THE PERFUM
Behind this new limited edition lies the famous original fragrance EAU DE LACOSTE L.12.12 Blanc. This woody, floral creation, a symbol of purity, opens with fresh, green accords of grapefruit, rosemary, cardamom and cedar leaves. These pure, aromatic notes mingle with a masculine, floral heart of tuberose, ylang-ylang and olibanum. In the base notes, cedarwood and Georgia wood combine with the freshness of vetiver to create a classic, elegant fragrance, just like the polo shirt from which it takes its inspiration.
THE LIMITED EDITION OF THE POLO
Since its creation in 1933, the polo shirt has been a sensation, available today in a multitude of colors.
To coincide with the launch of the limited edition EAU DE LACOSTE L.12.12, LACOSTE will inaugurate a limited edition of the polo shirt in May 2014, with a fluorescent yellow stripe on the collar recalling the characteristic color of the famous tennis ball, and details on the perfume bottle.
