I dreamed of discovering Provence, and now I have! I stayed at Le Hameau des Baux, a chic place full of charm that really enchanted me and that I’d like to share with you today.
Le Hameau des Baux is a 4-star concept hotel, and is in fact a real Provencal hamlet (I slept in an old chapel!). Le Hameau is located at the foot of the Alpilles mountains, a truly magnificent spot where you can enjoy some great rides in the hotel’s classic cars.
At Le Hameau, art really comes to the fore (there’s a gallery) and you can buy all the designer furniture in your room, a rather nice idea that allows guests to leave with a souvenir and encourages new objects to come to Le Hameau for constant renewal.
Me in front of my bedroom entrance. I must say, in this heatwave, I was quite cool in my church!
Ma salle de bain (which contains top-quality Nuxe products as well as 100% made-in-Provence olive oil-based cosmetics).
The breakfast room.
A varied choice of fresh produce (if you’re gluten-free or like me, eat mostly protein, you’ll find what you’re looking for).
Le Hameau des Baux has a superb swimming pool, which I really enjoyed. The water isn’t overly chlorinated, so no red eyes or redness.
dry hair afterwards.

In the kitchen, chef José Maréchal will delight your taste buds. I was delighted to meet him, and his cuisine is truly original: pommes d’amour made with cherry tomatoes, real croque monsieur in a verrine… The chef surprises and introduces us to new flavors.
I’d like to take this opportunity to recommend her books, which are really clear and made me want to discover the world of cocottes and verrines. For me, a verrine used to be just a little appetizer for an aperitif, but now I enjoy making real dishes from verrines. It’s quick and easy, and I’m a big fan of the way it allows you to have so many different flavors in your mouth during a meal.
To find out more about José Maréchal’s cuisine, visit his super restau www.restaurantlagrotte.fr/
(yes, you really are going to dine in a cave, and the place looks magnificent with light effects on the stones etc.).

Next to the Hameau des Baux, in addition to walks in the Alpilles, I highly recommend going to see a show at the Carrière de Lumières. Images are projected onto the rock and you are completely in the dark, surrounded from floor to ceiling only by the rocks. The sound and light show is truly magical and a must-see, and I had a wonderful time(http://carrieres-lumieres.com/).
In conclusion, I’d recommend Le Hameau des Baux if you’re looking for a place that combines luxury, relaxation and art. The staff are very attentive, and the atmosphere is warm and friendly, making you feel at home right away.
I’m already planning to go back there with my husband, it’s a place where you feel out of time and where the words vacation and serenity take on their full meaning.
