A replica of the first pair of Havaianas is featured in the exhibition ” Items: Is Fashion Modern? ” at New York’s Museum of Modern Art.
A replica of the first pair of Havaianas is on display among the selection of clothing, accessories and footwear that influenced fashion in the 20th and 21st centuries.
Havaianas is part of the “Items: Is Fashion Modern?” exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), which opened on October 1 in New York. The exhibition brings together 111 products that have had a real impact on trends over the last hundred years. A replica of the first Havaianas flip-flop model in 1962 is featured among iconic products from world-famous brands.
“To be present among great legendary brands of the fashion world with our first Tradicional Havaianas model, is not only an honor for our brand but also a strong symbol for Brazilian design and fashion. We are delighted to be part of this exhibition”. said Carla Schmitzberger, Havaianas World Director.
A replica of the first pair of Havaianas, created by the brand, is part of the exhibition. The products will be immersed in their respective universes, accompanied by images, videos and soundtracks, to retrace the history and origins of each piece, and thus embody the reasons for their celebrity over the last 100 years…
The exhibition, “Items: Is Fashion Modern? “, is MOMA’s first exhibition devoted exclusively to fashion since 1944, following Bernard Rudofsky’s ” Are Clothes Modern? The presentation occupies the entire sixth floor of the museum. A special catalog and dedicated website have been created for the occasion, and a series of educational programs are also planned.
