After weeks of confinement and telecommuting, designers are taking over our living rooms. Smart Platform x Versatis is a new, avant-garde cooktop concept that fits in with our new lifestyles, where the kitchen becomes a living and working space.
Smart Platform is at once a worktop and cooktop, a dining table, an office space and an interactive projection area.
Containment inspires!
For those who will increasingly be working in the home and are looking to make their kitchen a convivial, connected living space, the Versâtis™ prototype kitchen of the future from glass-ceramic hob surface manufacturer Eurokera, imagined by design studio Jean-Marc Gady, should appeal. The concept is part of a dual trend. On the one hand, the French touch, with 100% made-in-France materials and a clean, minimalist style. On the other hand, the design studio has taken note of the fact that the French furnish their kitchens in or like a living room: the kitchen becomes borderless and blends into the living area. The studio drew its inspiration from our new lifestyles, accelerated by confinement.
“Over the past few decades, the kitchen has become the epicenter of the home, but it has also opened up to other uses. The contemporary kitchen used to be a space that merged perfectly with the dining area or the dining room, but in recent weeks it has become a living room and office space” notes Emilie André, Studio Manager at studio Jean-Marc Gady. “Why not create an expanse of vitroceramic so large that it would come to completely replace the traditional kitchen countertop and allow all sorts of new technologies including a cooking system? The Versâtis™ experiment was born!” recounts Franck Demol, Specialties Business Director at Eurokera.
A new type of furniture, a disruptive proposal for the kitchen designer market
Smart Platform x Versâtis™ is a disruptive, innovative proposition that has no equivalent on the market. Simple and uncluttered, the concept offers a multitude of functions that adapt to our new uses: induction cooking zones detected by a simple touch and controlled via an App, a keep-warm space, a surface for wirelessly recharging our mobiles. A connected interactive projector and 360° camera invite new uses and offer unlimited flexibility.
“Its slim, light lines conceal unsuspected on-board technology! Such a creation had never before been realized, either as a concept or commercially. It was a real technical challenge to integrate functional elements into a reduced tray volume (10cm high) and to maintain the imposing surface of vitro ceramic (1100mm x 2400mm) and its thinness (6mm) on a visually light structure”, explains Emilie André. To guarantee this high-end positioning, the Jean-Marc Gady design studio has integrated a slanted detail and a hollow joint into its creation, which sublimate the finesse and line of the vitroceramic. The screen-printed markings identify the functional zones, while offering a contemporary decor that blends in with a refined interior. Finally, the finely tinted brushed steel base sets the lacquered cradle. Functional and aesthetic, Smart Platform x Versâtis™proposes the freedom and possibilities of a worktop and the refinement and conviviality of a reception table. An innovative concept that will fit easily into refined interiors
