BORAMY VIGUIER AW20 PFW SHOW

For his first fashion show, Boramy Viguier presented his AH20 collection yesterday at the Palais Brongniard, the historic headquarters of the Paris stock exchange. The collection is inspired by the dark world of finance, bringing together references from iconic films such as The Wolf of Wall Street, The Big Short: The Heist of the Century, Margin Call and Boiler Room…

For the designer, “the world of finance is a very emotional one. It affects everyone’s life. We hate it because we feel in control of our mortgages, our cars, our studies… it’s a very complex discipline that we find hard to understand. However, this world is still extremely attractive. Financial scandals fascinate and horrify at the same time.”

The collection is made up of strong silhouettes and a heterogeneous wardrobe that is nevertheless codified, standardized, almost militarized.

The collection features a contrast of wool suit jackets, severe black Skaï coats, multicolored shirts, quilted faux leather bombers and colorful taffeta parkas.

Extremely conscious of the need for a cleaner world. Boramy Viguier’s fabrics and production have always been entirely French. This season, however, the designer is taking things a step further, presenting creations that will not be mass-produced.

In fact, these unique hand-worked pieces, with various paint and lamination treatments, come directly from their workshop, and will require no motorized transport from their creation to their arrival in the hands of their future owners.

In addition, the designer had the opportunity to collaborate with Italian heritage brand VIBRAM to develop a range of footwear. Boramy Viguier decided to focus on their ‘Furoshiki five-finger range to create an organic, outdoorsy aesthetic, contrasting with the austere, severe references to the world of finance.
